ESRM Beyond the Books: Implementing a Risk-Led Security Program in the Real World
Sunday, 22 September | 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Security practitioners have learned and embraced the tenets and philosophy of ESRM, but how can do we really put these into practice in the real world?
This session for practitioners who want to dive into the implementation phase of ESRM will refresh a baseline understanding of the approach, before offering practical advice on how to adopt an ESRM approach through practical exercises based in a fictional case study of ESRM adoption, and a panel discussion with security professionals who have done it in their workplaces and can see the benefits.
This session will start with a brief review of ESRM in simple, actionable terms and quickly transition into the “how” of ESRM, including how to understand the full context of your organization, how to develop a clear asset/risk register for action planning, how to effectively communicate security risks and (importantly) the level of risk to business partners, and how to present your case to top management.
Presenters will walk the group through each step of the ESRM Cycle via a simulated exercise throughout the day. Among other things, this will include building partnerships with business stakeholders, building an asset inventory, and aligning your risk assessment and risk management processes with ESRM.
Finally, a panel of ESRM experts will facilitate discussions with the audience and answer direct questions in this small and intimate setting.
Speakers:
Rachelle Loyear | VP, Integrated Security Solutions | Allied Universal
Paul Mercer | Managing Director | HawkSight Security Risk Management Ltd
Tim McCreight | CEO & Founder | TaleCraft Security
Mads Pærregaard I CEO & Founder I Human Risks
Josh Jackson I Business Development Manager I Vicon
Learning Objectives
- Attendees will refine their understanding of ESRM in simple and actionable terms that align with the ESRM Guideline and Maturity Model.
- Attendees will walk through each step of the ESRM cycle in small teams via a simulated exercise.
- Learn critical communication and documentation techniques for ESRM success
- Attendees will hear from a panel of experts, who have all had practical and relevant experience adopting ESRM within their organization, in an intimate setting and have an opportunity to ask direct questions and have direct conversations with panelists.
